Emergency Dentist in Concord, NH

At White Park Dental, we know that, like natural disasters, dental emergencies can be unexpected and sudden. They also seem to happen at the most inconvenient times: while on vacation, or right before an important event. Your emergency dentists in Concord, NH, Dr. Kristen Harvey, can appreciate just how nerve-wracking and scary an oral health crisis can be.

One of the first things we do is provide pain relief so that patients can stop focusing on their emergency and start feeling in control.

Like smiles, no two dental emergencies are the same. Some can be painless and small, like a lost or loose dental crown or filling, while others can be uncomfortable and painful. Our emergency dentists have the skills and training to treat any dental issue, no matter how large or small. Since most dental emergencies happen without any precedence, we make room in our schedule to address last-minute dental needs.

You don’t have to be an existing patient—we will treat all dental emergencies with equal urgency and compassion. Life is already stressful enough; the last thing anyone needs is to have to worry about their new dentist or finding a skilled professional. We give all our patients our undivided time and focus and make their comfort and well-being our priority.

What Is a Dental Emergency?dental emergency in concord nh

Not all dental emergencies are accompanied by excruciating pain or gore. In fact, many oral health problems don’t have any symptoms until it is too late to prevent an emergency. If you’re unsure about your situation but are sure that something is strange with your dental health, give us a call. We can go over your symptoms and offer guidance and advice until you can come see us.

Your dental emergency does not have to be painful, but it should be treated right away.

Typically we see a lot of patients who suffer from tooth pain. Toothaches can start as small but annoying throbbing that is more discomforting than anything. Patients might hope that the pain will just go away on its own, and they may take aspirin and chew carefully, hoping that the issue will resolve itself in time.

The bad news is that tooth pain is almost always a giant red flag that indicates trouble brewing underneath the surface. While some headaches and cramps will go away on their own when ignored, toothaches will just keep growing and getting worse. We recommend that patients come to see us right away when the pain first starts so we can prevent infection, abscess, or even tooth loss.

If you’ve injured your mouth or face, see us immediately. Dr. Harvey will be able to visually examine your teeth or use a digital x-ray to determine if the tooth is chipped, fractured, or broken. If this is the case, we can immediately seal the tooth so that bacteria are unable to enter.

Knocked-out teeth are a critical emergency with time restraints. We may be able to save your tooth if you can see us as soon as possible. The tooth must be kept safe from drying out or dirt and bacteria. You may not be surprised to find that the safest place for your tooth is actually in your mouth. Keep it between your cheek and gum, and make sure you don’t accidentally swallow it before we can treat you!

Are you not sure about your dental situation? Call your Concord dental office today, and we can help determine if you need to see us right away.

Frequently Asked Questions

A dental emergency derails your weekend plans, keeps you awake most of the night, and makes you irritable. We get it. Dental emergencies, especially severe toothaches, are the worst.

However, a toothache is not the only type dental emergency our Concord, NH patients experience. Any dental issue that threatens your oral health or prevents you from enjoying your life is a dental emergency by our definition.

Examples of dental emergencies include:

  • Toothache
  • Tooth sensitivity
  • Jaw pain
  • Jaw swelling
  • Broken tooth or restoration
  • Tooth or restoration knocked out or knocked loose
  • Injuries to the soft tissues of the mouth
  • Object lodged between teeth

These are only examples. If you notice anything that falls outside these definitions, contact a member of our compassionate dental team. Ongoing or sudden oral health changes can also be urgent, which is why we want to hear from you.
